The Story
Born in 1889, Kodanda Rao decided, even as his student days were ending, to dedicate his life to the service of the country. He joined the Servants of India Society, the great organisation of Gokhale, and devoted himself wholly to its work.
He served the people of Bhārat without regard to distinctions of caste or community, working both in the land and abroad — in the countries where the people of Bhārat had gone — for their welfare. He was known for the fearlessness and balance of his opinions, and his voice was heard with respect in public life.
He died in 1980, honoured as one of the devoted servants of the nation. His life — the complete gift of a man to the service of the people — remains a model of the Servants of India Society's ideal.
