The Story
Born in 1898, Varadachariar was drawn to the theatre and became one of the leading actors of the Kannada stage. His acting won him an immortal place in the history of the theatre of the land — the account of his life in the Bharata Bharati series records that his performances were among the glories of the stage.
He reformed the theatre in many ways, raising its standards and its art, and his fame spread beyond Karnataka — he captivated the people of the Tamil country as well, where his performances were equally adored. He was also known as a senior artist of generous character, a free-handed donor.
