Chronicle

The board is 3 rows × 8 columns — twenty-four squares (चतुर्विंशति कोष्ठक), a game from the Sanskrit text Krīḍākauśalya.
Each player commands 8 pieces: ivory hold the top row, crimson the bottom; the middle row starts empty.
Move one piece one square horizontally or vertically into an empty square.
Capture by jumping over an adjacent enemy piece into the empty square immediately beyond it — the jumped piece is removed.
If more jumps are available, the same piece keeps capturing in one turn.
Win by capturing every enemy piece, or by leaving the enemy with no legal move.
